With its prime location offering direct lake access and panoramic views of Mount Rainier, this luxury residence combines contemporary design with thoughtful functionality to meet the needs of a growing family. Originally a modest lakefront home, the property’s transformation was driven by the homeowners’ vision to embrace indoor-outdoor living while enhancing the natural beauty of the site.
To achieve this, the design team introduced a third-level addition that maximizes views and creates additional living space. However, the project faced numerous challenges due to complex lakefront regulations and the site’s liquefaction risks. Extensive foundation work was required to stabilize the existing structure, involving the installation of 52 piles and 9 helical piers to support the new third level and ensure the home’s long-term stability.
The remodel reconfigured the home’s interior to promote openness and connectivity. The relocation of the central staircase to a more private area created unobstructed sightlines, opening up nearly every interior space to views of the water. This design adjustment also allowed for a more expansive floor plan, which now includes five bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, a home office, a wine room, and a spacious basement-level home gym featuring a sauna and spa.
The home’s layout was tailored to accommodate the family’s changing needs, including the addition of a flexible nursery space adjacent to the primary suite. The design also integrates areas for hosting guests, with a lower-level entertainment space that flows out to a large covered patio and private lakefront. The outdoor amenities include three decks totaling 1,321 square feet, a pitchfork dock, an outdoor shower, and ample storage for lake gear, encouraging year-round enjoyment of the waterfront location.
High-end interior finishes further elevate the residence’s aesthetic appeal. Custom cabinetry, premium sliding doors, and a curated selection of materials contribute to a luxurious yet cohesive look. In collaboration with an interior design team, unique elements such as hidden curtain tracks in the primary bedroom and designer furnishings were incorporated to harmonize with the architectural design.
