Within steps of a vibrant Downtown Redmond, 75 trees were preserved to create an urban forest sanctuary with walking trails that connect to the Link light rail station opening in 2023, that will support commutes to Microsoft, Bellevue and Seattle. The housing variety of urban studios and one- and two- bedroom apartment homes, is attracting residents of dynamic backgrounds to Redmond, of which ten percent of the project is provided as affordable housing.
Two buildings have been carefully placed with respect to the natural grade, views, solar orientation, and preservation of the adjacent urban forest. Architecturally, generous glazing and a rich wood-inspired color palette creates a modern building aesthetic. Glass encases the amenity spaces providing clean transparent finishes, while heavy timber and lattice elements reference the surrounding preserved forest. Prominent concrete elements emerge from the earth as site walls and support the terracing of buildings to maximize views while responding to the natural grade of the land.
